This week five of the world’s top poker players will bare up to the ultimate poker challenge at the $8,000 Buy in, $576,000 televised PartyPoker.com World Open, where body language will take on a new meaning.

Up and coming poker star, Russian player 23yr old ‘Catgirl,’ was due to celebrate her birthday by playing poker in her ‘Birthday Suit’ totally Naked bar a few Swarovski Gems to keep her modesty. Alas, at the last moment Channel Five put a ban on her total nudity, instead the Catgirl will adorn a sensational body painted outfit to keep her honest.

Opposition at this TV poker table could not get any tougher, players in this heat include, Dave ‘Devilfish’ Ulliott, Surinder Sunar, Liam Flood, World Series of Poker Europe Runner Up John Tabatabai, and Ian Woodley.

This heat is going to bring a new dimension of glamour to TV poker, which can often be dominated by not quite so attractive male poker faces. Who wouldn’t want to watch the flushing face of the Devilfish as he tries to get a read on Catgirls body language, then tries to bluff this lady in the buff, this will be must watch TV Poker.

Ex gymnast and professional player, the Catgirl, is fast becoming one of the rising stars of the poker scene and enthuses in making this powerful and brave statement to the male dominated world of poker. She is no stranger to the world of high stakes, being sponsored into one of Europe’s biggest regular cash games.

Catgirl said, “I’ve played poker for two years now and have had a lot of success in high stakes cash. Poker is about entertainment as well being a very serious business, I want to go forward as a professional player, so why not give the world something to talk about - There is a lot at stake, but I want to have some fun and if it is my lucky day, then the sky’s the limit. I am grateful to my sponsors POKERTRILLION.com for giving me this opportunity, I am playing to win.”

Andy Pyrah, C.E.O of Catgirls sponsors POKERTRILLION.COM said, “Catgirls heat is like a who’s who of poker, she’s going to need to have all her talent on display if she’s going to take down this table”, Pyrah continued to comment, “Let’s just hope the likes of Flood and Devilfish don’t decide to go topless!”

Whatever the outcome of this historical event, we are sure to see a lot more of the Catgirl.

The PartyPoker.com World Open will be televised later this year, produced by Matchroom Sport for Channel 5 TV and worldwide distribution.

We reported earlier that online poker site Pokertrillion.com was leaving the Boss poker network and was filing law suits against Boss Media. Boss Media have had millions of Euros frozen in their accounts, and some speculate that Boss may not be able to pay all of their players who decide to cash out.

PokerTrillion.com have just released the following press release detailing the reasons for their law suit against Boss Media and Webdollar for alleged fraudulent and criminal activities.

April 12, 2008 Malta – Trillion Limited (POKERTRILLION.com).

There have been a lot of rumours, a lot of speculation, and a lot of questions surrounding the current position between POKERTRILLION.com, Boss Holdings Limited and Boss Media Malta Poker Ltd. This statement seeks to clarify everything.

On Friday 11th April 2008 POKERTRILLION.com achieved a freezing order of the bank accounts of Boss Holdings Limited and Boss Media Malta Poker Ltd. The freezing order was executed at five of the banks where they hold accounts, and it will be executed at the reaming two banks early Monday morning. The freezing order has been made in conjunction and relating to a €45million initial law suit being taken by POKERTRILLION against Boss Media and Webdollar for alleged fraudulent, and potential criminal activities of various personnel and/or the management of Boss Media, or their associated companies in various jurisdictions including but not restricted to, Sweden and Malta.

It is anticipated that this will have a serious detrimental impact on the players who have money with Boss Media or any of its associated companies including Webdollar, because obviously the accounts have now been frozen so it is likely that when the freezing order is executed across all the Webdollar and Boss Media accounts, players will find it impossible to withdraw funds.

POKERTRILLION.com as a small and new entrant to the market is taking a zero tolerance approach to being mistreated by Boss Media, furthermore, owing to the massive irregularities surrounding Boss Media and their handling of POKERTRILLION.com this led to a number of contractual issues that led to POKERTRILLION.com making extremely exciting and important developments in the way in which it operated its business.

Further information will be released as and when the courts give permission for POKERTRILLION.com to discuss such developments. In the interim, all players who hold accounts with POKERTRILLION.com have an unconditional and unlimited guarantee on all funds they hold through POKERTRILLION.com.

It is highly likely, if Boss Media follows the proper code of conduct as it should do, it will have to make a full and complete disclosure to the Stockholm Stock Exchange where they are listed. This invariably will have a catastrophic effect on their share price, and may even lead to the arrest by the authorities of certain members of their management team and the possible suspension of their sharers. This in turn, would mean that players not in the POKERTRILLION.com stable would find their funds in serious jeopardy yet again.

POKERTRILLION.com however is delighted that this situation has created the ability to develop some fantastic new opportunities which are to be revealed in the coming week.

Should you require any further information please contact manager@pokertrillion.com or the judicial courts in Malta.

Users of the online-poker room PokerTrillion (and other poker rooms on the Boss Poker Network) were left wondering this weekend if they will lose all the cash in their poker accounts - due to the freezing of some of the financial holdings of Swedish Poker Company Boss Media.

PokerTrillion.com (registered and licenced in Malta) is an online poker room which until now used Swedish based Boss Media’s gaming solutions to offer online poker services to their customers using their own branded or “skinned” version of the Boss Poker product. Popular brands using the Boss Poker Network include Virgin Poker, Celeb Poker, PokerHeaven as well as numerous other names.

Andy Pyrah, CEO of Pokertrillion.com yesterday sent the following message to all users of their Boss Media branded poker software:

Dear User

I write to inform you that today, Trillion Limited (POKERTRILLION.com), has been successful in its application for a garnishee order (also known as a freezing order) against Boss Holdings Limited and Boss Media Malta Poker Ltd’s bank accounts in anticipation of issuing a writ of summons for breach of contract and other associated claims.

POKERTRILLION.com will be moving to a new poker network on 25th April 2008 as any association with the Boss Media group of companies is very detrimental.

Rest assured POKERTRILLION.com have your best interests at heart and we will release further details regarding our new network shortly.

Kindest regards,
Andy Pyrah.
Chief Executive Officer

From Mr Pyrah’s statement, it seems that some Boss Media bank accounts will be frozen - sources claim the figure of the garnishee is “significant”, and runs into millions of Euro. Regarding working with Boss Media being “detrimental”, PokerTrillion Marketing Director Colin Hawker said:

Poker Trillion intend to issue a writ for Breach of contract. Poker Trillion have to distance themselves from Boss and any company which has had it’s bank accounts frozen and will therefore complete their move to our new network by 25th April.

WebDollar, a subsidiary of Boss Media, provides secure payment services. Boss Media’s gaming platforms are fully integrated with the Webdollar e-payment system.

Whether the freezing order will stop players being able to cash out their poker accounts via WebDollar remains to be seen. The amount of the garnishee is likely to be in the same ballpark as any amount necessary to pay any subsequent claims by PokerTrillion.

Presumably the Boss Media coffers are large enough to withstand a freeze of what is likely to be a small percentage of their “bankroll”. Time will tell.

How To Play Bingo

Bingo is one of the lottery-type games (although not really a lottery) that was often used to support social events or solicit donations towards a good case. Today it is as popular as ever, and online casinos bring Bingo even closer to the people who never played it before.

The principle of Bingo games is easy: every player buys a bingo card, which is most often a paper card with 75 random numbers printed on it. The bingo has a rotating bin from which he or she would pull balls marked with numbers in a fashion that is very akin to lottery. The host reads the number aloud. If a player has the drawn number on his or her bingo card, they would mark it. The first player to complete a certain pattern of numbers wins.

The name “Bingo” comes from the original game which was played with beans and stones. A winning player would have announced “Bean go!” and this is why modern players would scream “Bingo” every time they have a complete card in their hands.

Bingo is played in rounds, which can be pretty long. In real life Bingo halls, bingo tournaments can last for 8 hours or even days. Depending on how and where you play, you might find yourself submerged too deep into the ocean of bingo games.

In the most popular incarnation of the game the player must cross (mark) 5 numbers in a column, a row or a diagonal. A 25-number card is given out to the players, with random numbers ranging from 1 to 75 printed on it. The columns are marked with the word “Bingo”, from left to right, each letter corresponding to a column. Each column will only contain numbers proportional to its position, that is, first column will contain 5 random numbers from the range between 1 to 15, the second column will contain numbers from 16-30 and so on. A number can only appear once on a bingo card. Sometimes such a bingo card would have its central cell already marked out.

Because the randomness of Bingo cards is the most important part of the game, it’s also very important to know how to obtain a bingo card properly. Bingo cards are preprinted with random numbers, generated by a computer. W hen you buy a bingo card, make sure the card is unopened. In one of the most popular variations of the game the central cell of the Bingo card is already marked.

As well as in real world, online Bingo has a very avid and thriving player community. There’s no sense of rivalry amongst the players, and they dont keep distance from each other like the casino players normally do. Bingo is for friendly and social people, where the surrounding of the game and the time spent together outside of the bingo hall is as pleasant and important as playing and winning in the bingo game itself.

26/03/2008

The Irish Poker Open, held every Easter, is one of the largest buy-in poker events of the year; last year it attracted 708 players, at that time a record field for European poker, however this year numbers dropped slightly to around 650 players, which meant that Paddy Power had to put his hand in his pocket to make up the 3 Million Euro guarantee.

What makes the Irish Open so special?

Firstly, the quality of the field. Most of the leading European poker players take part in the event, always joined by a number of Americans. Last year these included Dan Harrington and Mike Sexton. This year stars such as poker icons Doyle Brunson and Sorel Mizzi led the US invasion.

Secondly, there are the Irish poker players themselves – led by the experienced and entertaining event director Liam Flood, they are hospitable, good fun and they just love their poker (and their beer!)!

Thirdly, everyone who is playing stays in the same place so that, once the playing stops, the fun really starts – this is one of poker’s most social occasions. Where else can a satellite player rub shoulders with Roland De Wolfe, Todd & Doyle Brunson, and superstars of the online-playing fraternity, such as Isaac “Mr_Menlo” Baron, Sorel Mizzi etc?

Irish Poker Open Prizepool

Irish Poker Open 2008 Prizepool- - €3,001,400

1 € 801,400
2 € 420,000
3 € 275,000
4 € 220,000
5 € 175,000
6 € 135,000
7 € 100,000
8 € 75,000
9 € 50,000
10 -12 €32,500
13-18 €24,000
19-27 €18,000
28- 36 €13,000
37-45 € 9,000
46-54 € 6,500
55-63 € 5,500
64-72 € 4,500

Irish Open Day 1(a)

Day 1 kicked off at 2pm (315 Players), and UKGamblingforums staff wandered around snapping the players without challenge.Irish hopes included Andy Black, UKGF’s own Niall O, and a bunch of players from Boards.ie as well as plenty of satellite players.

Other big name players on day 1(a) included Sorel “imper1um” Mizzi, Doyle Brunson , Trond Eidsvig (who seems to final table every EPT), Roland de Wolfe (who spent the first 90 Mins of play getting a Massage), Todd Brunson, Joe “BigEgypt” Elpayaa, John Duthie (one of the founders of the EPT), Mike “Timex” mcDonald on same table as Dave “devilfish” Ulliot, to name but a few. I also recognised Jen Mason, Ram Vaswani, and spoke to micky wernick and HendonMobster Barney Boatman (both of whom were very nice and let me take their pics.)

The first elimination of the day was given a large chocolate easter-egg in a basket (expensive egg, at 4500 Euros!). Irishman Andy Black grinded his stack up to about 45k pretty quickly, however he busted out pretty soon when his opponent rivered a backdoor straight. D’oh!

Top 10 Chipcounts at end of day 1(a)

82,250 Jay Renehan
78,700 AlexanderFitzgerald
72,375 Carsten Joh
69,325 Mazhar Nawab
60,100 Thomas Dempsey
59,275 David Gregory
59,150 Keith Littlewood
56,225 Sorel Mizzi
55,225 John Keown
53,800 Doyle Brunson
51,300 Graham Clarkson

Irish Poker Open Day 1(b)

It turns out Paddy Power didn’t sell as many seats as last year, so they were trying to sell a few seats by running some 1 hand satellites (350 Euros buyin, 2 tables, 1 hand - winner takes all, 2nd place gets his money back).. So half an hour later they announced that there was an overlay, and poor old Paddy Power were paying the remaining two hundred thousand euro to make up the guarantee!

Top 10 Chipcounts Day 2

99400 Eric Larcheveque
92250 Lars Hougaard
84875 Knut Rysstad
82250 Jay Renehan
78700 Alexander Fitzgerald
76425 Conor Tate
72375 Carsten Joh
69700 James Daly
69325 Mazhar Nawab
65000 Nick Goodall

Day 2 saw the feature table getting opened up, and of course Doyle Brunson was there in his iconic stetson. Sorel Mizzi was on 120k+, and looking good to final table this event 2 years on the trot. Irishman Donal Norton was another serious contender to hit the final table with a huge stack. Neil Channing was also looking good for a Final Table spot with plenty of chips around him.

Final chipcounts end of day 3

Seat 1: Neil Channing — 2,748,000
Seat 2: Tim Blake — 912,000
Seat 3: Kai Danilo Paulsen — 716,000
Seat 4: Thomas Dunwoodie — 544,000
Seat 5: Edwin Tournier — 562,000
Seat 6: Donal Norton — 1,164,000

The Final Table

Channing ran good on the final table and won himself >800K Euro. Channing had also placed a bet on himself at 100-1, so quite a nice payday for him. Irishman Donal Norton came 2nd for Just over 400k Euro. Congratulations to both players!. No Final table deal was made.

It is possibly the biggest betting race in the world and is popular people who don’t generally bet on anything.

The Grand National is also one of the most controversial races of the year, due to the high profile given to injuries and fatalities suffered by the participating horses. The event has been targeted by animal rights groups who have campaigned to have it banned. Sadly one rider has also died as a result of injuries sustained in the race.

Rake is how poker rooms make their money. Rakeback is a refund to the poker player.

What is Rake?

Rake is how poker rooms make their money. That is the money that the poker rooms deduct from every pot. Usually the rake is a couple of percent with a cap at around $3 at the highest limits. There is also rake on tournaments, where the large portion of the buy in goes to the prize pool, and a little fee goes to the poker site. The poker rooms make huge money from the rake the players contribute with. It is not unusual that a single player pay $3000 to the poker room every month, and that’s just one player. A poker room with more than 10,000 active players earns quite a lot of money to say the least.

What is Rakeback?

Rakeback is a refund to the poker player.. Poker players receive a percentage of the rake they pay to the poker room. A normal rakeback offer is between 25% and 40%, but sometimes players can get an even better offer. If you receive 35% rakeback, and rake $1000 one month, you will get $350 back. The more you rake, the more you get back.

How do I get rakeback

If you want to get rakeback you have to sign up at a poker room through a special link (which lets the poker room know that they must give you rakeback (as normal players do not automatically get rakeback). Some sites offer multiple rakeback deals (e.g. Poker Rakeback Deals. All of the poker site links on this page entitle you to rakeback when you join the poker room.

A referring rakeback site earns a couple of percent of your total rake back, but the major part of it goes back into your bankroll.

Some of the poker variations are better suitable for a rakeback deal. If you play shorthanded poker, you are involved in more pots, and therefore pay more rake (and can potentially earn more rakeback). If you play at more than one table at the time you also play more hands, and pay more rake. When you are involved in a lot of pots you should definitely play with rakeback - otherwise you are really throwing away a LOT of money unnecessarily.

There is no downside to rakeback - you will earn a lot of extra cash, or save cash depending on how you look at it. Just do it!
