John Isner took the record for the most aces served in a match (with 103).

Most Wimbledon Final Defeats

Former #1 tennis player Chris Evert holds the unlucky record for the most Wimbledon final defeats – she lost six of seven finals against Czech Martina Navratilova.

Highest Career Win/Loss ratio

US tennis champ Chris Evert’s total career win–loss ratio in singles matches of 1,309–146 (.900) is the best ratio of any pro player in the history of tennis.

The John Smith’s Grand national 2011 kicks off in 16 days, running from 7th-9th April in Aintree. Thursday the 7th is “Liverpool day”, “Ladies Day” is the 9th and the grand finale steeplechase, the 2011 Grand national takes place on Saturday 9th April.

The Grand National is one of the biggest events in UK horse racing betting, and definitely one of the most exciting and exhilarating races of the year for fans of the sport. As you might expect, Twitter is awash with people looking for Grand National tickets!)

Now is the time to do your homework, to work out who you are going to bet on – and also which free-bets or special offers you might take up when you bet (bookmakers run massive promotions during the National).

Our grand national betting tips below will help you to identify some possible winners, and give you some interesting Grand National triva and history along the way.

Understand the Race

The Grand National is a steeplechase – this term refers to the long distance a horse must race over, as well as diverse ditch and fence obstacles.

Picking a Winner in the Grand National

Lots of Runners: With 40 horses in the race you can certainly expect a spectacle. That’s a lot of legs! It’s quite common to see riders falling and horses running without jockeys.

Track Length: 4.5 miles: It’s a long track.

Balance & Jumps: Horses with history of falling are not likely have confidence and to maintain their composure to stand a realistic chance of winning.

Stamina: This is a long race – horses with no track record of wins on tracks over 3 miles are more unlikely to win on a 4.5 mile track.

The race is synonymous with the racehorse “Red Rum”which was trained on the beaches of Southport and went on to win 3 Grand Nationals, capturing the nation’s hearts.

Each way betting – placing an each way bet on the grand national is an easy way to make profit, as bookmakers pay four places on each way bets as standard

It is not very common to find a horse in the race with such short odds that you won’t make a profit with an each way bet, should the horse place 1st-4th

Grand National Free Bets

Bookmakers are more than happy to acquire new customers by offering free-bet offers during popular sporting events such as the Grand National, Wimbledon etc.

Check out our Free bets page for over £600 in free bets for the 2011 Grand national.

In case you haven’t already seen the latest UK tabloid news revelations, Andy Gray, leading Sky Sport’s Football Commentator, has been sacked over making derogatory comments about a female football referee off the air. Andy Gray’s immediate dismissal, after stating that “women cannot understand the offside rule”, will have a massive impact for Sky’s coverage of future Premier League games.

In my opinion Andy Gray was inarguably the UK’s best football pundit, commentator and analyst. His Sunday TV show “The Last Word” is renowned for being the most insightful, analytical and entertaining post-match football program which breaks down Premier League games and football transfer information on TV.

In addition to the Last Word, which Gray hosts in the good company of Richard Keyes, Gray has evidently been Sky Sports favourite and most popular football commentator. Him and Keyes have been consistently selected, season after season, to commentate the so-called big “Super Sunday” Premier League games including Man Utd vs Liverpool and Arsenal vs Chelsea.

Andy Gray’s sacking will prove a huge hole to fill in the Sky Sports studio. Possibly to the extent that executives at Sky Sports may soon regret the decision. Gray was a professional Scottish football who made his mark at a number of clubs including Dundee (where he started), Aston Villa, Wolves, Everton and Rangers.
Since retiring in 1990, Gray joined Sky Sports football commentary team in 1992 (before the Premier League began) and has been working for them for the last 20 years. Some UK bookmakers and online casino sites such as William Hill (which provides a range of online gaming services including sports betting, instant win games and poker) are already providing betting odds on what Andy Gray will do next. Betting odds range from 5/2 to show up on Loose Women or I’m a Celebrity and 10/1 to take part in Strictly Come Dancing.

Live football streaming is available through a number of online bookmakers and betting sites who have purchased the broadcasting rights for international and domestic soccer games, as well as the biggest event, the World cup.

Live football streaming is only available to the consumer once they have joined the appropriate betting site (with the broadcast rights to the game), created an account and logged in to the appropriate software (usually the betting lobby of the sportsbook site). This measure is simply to ensure that every man and his dog don’t end up watching football on their PC for free, as the bookies licence only extends to offering the service to their own members.

Online bookmakers offering live soccer streaming include Bet365 and Unibet. Restrictions may apply on which regions matches are available for streaming in, but usually 90% of territories are A-OK for streaming. These online bookmakers also offer free-bet incentives for new customers, as well as offering in-play betting (you can bet at any time during the game, rather than just before the game).

We recommend LiveFootballStreaming.org for all of your live football streaming needs. The site offers 7-day football streaming listings which are updated daily, allowing you to plan which matches you want to watch.

Tennis betting fans won’t be amazed to hear that Rafael Nadal won the tennis Grand Slam on Monday in New York, winning the 2010 U. S Open men’s singles final.

With this historic win over Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, became the first person since 1969 to win the French Open, Wimbledon and U. S Open in the exact same yr.

Rafael Nadal is commonly believed to be the world’s greatest clay-court player ever – having earned an unrivalled 81-match clay court winning streak which was concluded in 2006, nevertheless his control by winning the French open (considered to be the most important clay-court tournament) for an amazing four years in a row (2005 – 2008) says it all. Rafa is one of the most popular players for tennis betting fans.

Neither the New York rain, which had seen the final postponed on Sunday and then disrupted for just about two hours on Monday, nor Djokovic could stop the Spaniard’s unyielding walk to the 1 title that still eluded him.

In the year 2006, Nadal showed the entire world that he is a dynamic player, when he played out his way to the final of the grass-court Wimbledon Tennis Tournament, where he dropped to Roger Federer – on the other hand in 2008 he conquered Federer for his first major win on a non-clay surface. Not one to rest on his laurels, 2009 saw Nadal win the Australian Open and reach the semi’s of the 2009 US Open. 2011 will probably be another year for Raphal Nadal’s tennis results.

Betting on sports can add excitement to your day. Taking some time to research and make a wager gives you a real stake in the game. And it makes every bad call or mistake by the players that much gut wrenching.

Know what to Bet:
Sports betting includes a fair amount of vocabulary which you will learn over time. But of most importance are the common bet types. There are side wagers where you bet on one of two teams directly competing. There are total wagers where you bet on a certain score to be reached (adding the teams score together). There are also future wagers which involve more than two competitors – for example, “Who will win the Superbowl” or “Who will win the US Open.”

Reading the Line – Spreads and Moneylines:
There are two components to a spread betting side wager, the spread and the moneyline. The spread is subtracted from the favorite or added to the underdog to determine the final outcome of the bet. The moneyline indicates how much the bet pays. If the moneyline is negative, you must wager the value to win $100. If it is positive, you win the value if you bet $100. For example, you want to try your hand at football betting. The NY Giants are 3 point favorites over Philadelphia Eagles. The moneyline for both teams is -110. You bet on the Eagles who lost 21-20. However, the Eagles were getting 3 points, so the score becomes 21-23. The sportsbook considers the Eagles a winner. You bet $100 on the game. But to win $100, you would have to bet $110. So the $100 bet pays out 100/110 = $90.91, plus your $100 stake back. Had you bet on the Giants, you would have lost your $100. It sounds complicated, but it becomes much clearer after just a few wagers.

Try Future Wagering:
When you bet a future, realize your stake will not be available until the bet settles. For example, if you bet on the Superbowl winner in August, that money will not be available for betting during all of football season. But, since these wagers involve more than two competitors the odds can provide for a big payday, especially if you correctly identify a dark horse early in the season. Some sports, like golf, rely almost exclusively on the future lines to bet on a tournament champion.

How to Get Started:
Getting started is easy. Find a sportsbook that works for you. That can take some research. None offer everything so be honest with yourself. Do you want the best line prices? The best new deposit bonus? Tournaments? Availability of poker, casino,
and a racebook? Once you have your account setup, only bet one or two games per day. Stick to teams you know well and only make small wagers, say $10-$25. Once you are comfortable, establish your strategy, bankroll, and conditions for making bets.

Have realistic expectations:
Even the best handicappers only win about 60% of their bets – and even they go through losing streaks. Never bet a huge amount of your bankroll on any one bet – nothing is a sure thing. Never chase a string of losses – take a break from betting if you are mired
in a slump. Keep an eye on what expert handicappers are saying – they can give you an alternative viewpoint. You can always make pretend wagers to get your confidence back. Remember to have fun – treat your gambling funds as a recreational expense.
