- [Guest post by Richard Arkless]
Figuring out a style for poker isn’t easy. This is especially the case for Texas Hold ‘Em sit and go’s, which are one the most popular forms of poker today. This game is so challenging that large universities even have had their brightest students working on how the ultimate strategy. Much progress has been made, but there is no final solution (a few systems have emerged though, including pushbotting and SAGE). One thing that has been established is that Texas Hold ‘Em isn’t a black and white game where you can apply the same strategy every time. If you take this approach, then people in the game will begin to pick up on your tendencies. In order to be successful, you must mix up your game and adapt to other players. You need to play tight against aggressive players and loose and against tight players. The toughest players are the ones who are tight-aggressive. Therefore, that’s exactly what you want to be.

Entering a new poker game and trying to adapt is indeed challenging. That being the case, there is a good strategy to implement. It has proven to be effective against players that aren’t familiar with your habits. It’s also easy to remember. It’s a tight-aggressive approach and it must be followed at all times. If you sway from the plan, then you will likely fail. To make sure you stick to it, sign a contract for yourself prior to playing and swear on something or someone dear to you. This might sound ludicrous to some people, but it’s that important and it works. It’s much better to sign a contract than it is to lose a few hundred £ in a few quick hands.

As far as this turbo heads-up Sit and go strategy goes, the basic rule is that you’re only allowed to play the following hands: all pocket pairs, AK, AQ and Ax suited. Ax suited refer to two cards of the same suit as long as one of them as an Ace. The key to success with this strategy is to avoid calling. Calling is for wimps and it will make you look like a wimp. Any time you’re dealt one of the hands above, you need to raise 5x the big blind. This will scare the living daylights out of people. If they happen to call, then you still have the advantage. If you hit the flop hard, go all-in right away. Your opponents will usually fold, but the times they call will more than make up for the times they folded in regards to potential winnings. If you miss the flop and someone bets, fold.

Using this strategy is most effective when opponents aren’t familiar with your style. Therefore, it’s best for beginners and experienced players visiting new games. If you would like to practice this strategy, online you can visit online casinos like Gaming Club (that’s where I play – you can practice this technique on free poker sites like Zynga too) to hone your poker playing skills for fun before you play for real money on or offline this is a great tactic to get your game up and get you playing like the pros. The online casinos mean you can play with players all over the world so you get a good cross section to learn with.

The John Smith’s Grand national 2011 kicks off in 16 days, running from 7th-9th April in Aintree. Thursday the 7th is “Liverpool day”, “Ladies Day” is the 9th and the grand finale steeplechase, the 2011 Grand national takes place on Saturday 9th April.

The Grand National is one of the biggest events in UK horse racing betting, and definitely one of the most exciting and exhilarating races of the year for fans of the sport. As you might expect, Twitter is awash with people looking for Grand National tickets!)

Now is the time to do your homework, to work out who you are going to bet on – and also which free-bets or special offers you might take up when you bet (bookmakers run massive promotions during the National).

Our grand national betting tips below will help you to identify some possible winners, and give you some interesting Grand National triva and history along the way.

Understand the Race

The Grand National is a steeplechase – this term refers to the long distance a horse must race over, as well as diverse ditch and fence obstacles.

Picking a Winner in the Grand National

Lots of Runners: With 40 horses in the race you can certainly expect a spectacle. That’s a lot of legs! It’s quite common to see riders falling and horses running without jockeys.

Track Length: 4.5 miles: It’s a long track.

Balance & Jumps: Horses with history of falling are not likely have confidence and to maintain their composure to stand a realistic chance of winning.

Stamina: This is a long race – horses with no track record of wins on tracks over 3 miles are more unlikely to win on a 4.5 mile track.

The race is synonymous with the racehorse “Red Rum”which was trained on the beaches of Southport and went on to win 3 Grand Nationals, capturing the nation’s hearts.

Each way betting – placing an each way bet on the grand national is an easy way to make profit, as bookmakers pay four places on each way bets as standard

It is not very common to find a horse in the race with such short odds that you won’t make a profit with an each way bet, should the horse place 1st-4th

Grand National Free Bets

Bookmakers are more than happy to acquire new customers by offering free-bet offers during popular sporting events such as the Grand National, Wimbledon etc.

Check out our Free bets page for over £600 in free bets for the 2011 Grand national.

In case you haven’t already seen the latest UK tabloid news revelations, Andy Gray, leading Sky Sport’s Football Commentator, has been sacked over making derogatory comments about a female football referee off the air. Andy Gray’s immediate dismissal, after stating that “women cannot understand the offside rule”, will have a massive impact for Sky’s coverage of future Premier League games.

In my opinion Andy Gray was inarguably the UK’s best football pundit, commentator and analyst. His Sunday TV show “The Last Word” is renowned for being the most insightful, analytical and entertaining post-match football program which breaks down Premier League games and football transfer information on TV.

In addition to the Last Word, which Gray hosts in the good company of Richard Keyes, Gray has evidently been Sky Sports favourite and most popular football commentator. Him and Keyes have been consistently selected, season after season, to commentate the so-called big “Super Sunday” Premier League games including Man Utd vs Liverpool and Arsenal vs Chelsea.

Andy Gray’s sacking will prove a huge hole to fill in the Sky Sports studio. Possibly to the extent that executives at Sky Sports may soon regret the decision. Gray was a professional Scottish football who made his mark at a number of clubs including Dundee (where he started), Aston Villa, Wolves, Everton and Rangers.
Since retiring in 1990, Gray joined Sky Sports football commentary team in 1992 (before the Premier League began) and has been working for them for the last 20 years. Some UK bookmakers and online casino sites such as William Hill (which provides a range of online gaming services including sports betting, instant win games and poker) are already providing betting odds on what Andy Gray will do next. Betting odds range from 5/2 to show up on Loose Women or I’m a Celebrity and 10/1 to take part in Strictly Come Dancing.

Tips on Finding Safe Poker Sites

Online Poker Sites are Numerous, which Ones Are Safe?

If you’re just starting out as an online poker player, you may be wondering about
how you can discern safe poker sites from those that are unsafe. Unsafe sites include
those with poor security, lack of support and a sketchy reputation for honoring
withdrawals. Most sites are safe but there are measures that you can take to ensure
that your money and information will be handled properly.

Safe Poker Sites are Licensed

The first thing to do in searching for safe poker sites is to look for those that are
licensed. Licensed sites have to go through an application process and must meet
certain standards set by the licensing government. You’ll find that some sites are
licensed by more than one entity. Licensing is a minimum requirement when it
comes to safety and security.

Internal and Independent Monitoring

A poker site that constantly monitors itself and is also regularly checked by an
independent firm is actively working at ensuring your safety. Monitoring of games
and poker players for cheating, evaluation of poker software and running checks on
banking procedures are all part of a safe poker site’s security regime.

Quick Response

If you have a complaint or know of a security issue, you want a quick response from
the site. Make sure the poker room has 24/7 help available and that you can reach
them by at least two of these methods of communication—telephone, email and/or
live chat.

128-bit Encryption and Information Security

Safe poker sites use advanced 128-bit encryption to transfer information over the
Internet. As a poker player, you do not want a site that offers anything less than
that. There are thousands upon thousands of hackers each and every day trying to
steal and use personal and financial information off the web. Protect yourself by

becoming a poker player at a site with 128-bit technology.

Additionally, check to make sure that the poker room will not sell or trade your
information with other businesses. Each time that information is transferred, there’s
a security risk. Plus, as a poker player you’d probably rather be playing than dealing
with unwanted spam in your mailbox.

Read Reviews and Poker News

Prior to signing up take some time to read independent reviews of various sites.
Peruse three or more of each site you’re considering. Check for any complaints
about the site and be especially mindful of security features.

Find a poker news source or two and monitor them constantly to garner any new
information about security concerns or other safety issues. A poker site may have
been deemed safe for years but that doesn’t mean that it will continue to be safe.
Employees, systems and standards change and that can lead to problems.

Shop Around and Buyer Beware

Poker players will find a plethora of places to play online. When searching for safe
poker sites take some time to shop around. Tour sites that you are considering
joining and read their literature pertaining to licensing, monitoring and security.

If a site is new, that is not necessarily a bad thing. But use that Latin phrase caveat
emptor (buyer beware) when shopping for a safe site. If a new poker room is making
outlandish promises or has unbelievable bonus offers, these can be red flags. Do
your homework and you’ll find plenty of safe poker sites from which you can
choose.

Live football streaming is available through a number of online bookmakers and betting sites who have purchased the broadcasting rights for international and domestic soccer games, as well as the biggest event, the World cup.

Live football streaming is only available to the consumer once they have joined the appropriate betting site (with the broadcast rights to the game), created an account and logged in to the appropriate software (usually the betting lobby of the sportsbook site). This measure is simply to ensure that every man and his dog don’t end up watching football on their PC for free, as the bookies licence only extends to offering the service to their own members.

Online bookmakers offering live soccer streaming include Bet365 and Unibet. Restrictions may apply on which regions matches are available for streaming in, but usually 90% of territories are A-OK for streaming. These online bookmakers also offer free-bet incentives for new customers, as well as offering in-play betting (you can bet at any time during the game, rather than just before the game).

We recommend LiveFootballStreaming.org for all of your live football streaming needs. The site offers 7-day football streaming listings which are updated daily, allowing you to plan which matches you want to watch.

Despite attempts by the US government to block banks from accepting online casino transactions, the American online gambling market remains steady and well supported throughout the online casino industry. In fact there is one sector that is positively booming and that is online bingo. Bingo has always been extremely popular in America and the American public have been quick to take up the challenge of online bingo, with new bingo sites accepting us players appearing regularly.

The new surge of American bingo sites are not normally based in the USA and are certainly licensed there but they are being specially targetted towards catering for American bingo players and the sort of bingo experience they are used to in the US.

There are a number of differences between an American bingo site and a regular international bingo site targetted at a multicultural audience though this is by no means clear-cut, some American style sites may not have all these features.

This is a summary of what you might be expected to find on a typical USA bingo site:

i) American bingo sites are aimed at the US market. And because they’re American sites the majority of players come from the USA! So you are going to be playing with and of course chatting and engaging with other Americans when you play.

ii) All the games are played US dollars so the prizes, cards and all the bonuses and perks are all expressed in US dollars rather than Euros, Sterling or other international currencies giving the games a specifically American feel.

iii) Bank transactions are overwhelmingly in US dollars so your deposits and withdrawals will almost always be in $ no matter where the site is based. You might have the option of Sterling or Euros but there will always be a US dollar option for American facing sites which is the default.

iv) These American based bingo sites accept the usual US payment options such as Visa and Mastercard as well as the e-wallets still supported for US players such as epassporte.

v) The chat hosts are usually hired from America and are actually living there which means that the chat and culture and popular references will all have an American bias so US players will feel right at home as if they were in their own home town bingo hall.

vi) Because these new US bingo sites are specifically targetting American players you will find that their branding features such symbols as the Empire State building, Las vegas, Mount Rushmore, Atlantic City etc to give a uniquely American feel.

vii) American bingo sites may well offer the 90-ball UK version of the game but will certainly have the traditional American 75-ball bingo game. In fact, most online bingo sites favor the 75-ball style which uses 5×5 cards which is the game most American bingo fans will be familiar with. The 90-ball UK version has (obviously) 90 balls and the cards only have 15 numbers but the majority of bingo sites and certainly the American themed ones will offer both versions of bingo.

viii) Customer service will of course be in English and if you are lucky the customer service team will even be based in the US. In any case they are fully briefed on the high standards of service expected by Americans and you will be unfortunate to stumble across a customer service representative who doesn’t understand your query.

Out of these points only the first couple are guaranteed – that they are marketed towards Americans and will be sure to attract US players and have mostly Americans in the games which will be exclusively in American dollars. The other features are not so certain and if there is any point which is of particular importance to you as a player you should check that with the casino or a review site exclusively focussed on US bingo sites before joining. Try out this American bingo sites page for information on the top bingo sites for US players.

Tennis betting fans won’t be amazed to hear that Rafael Nadal won the tennis Grand Slam on Monday in New York, winning the 2010 U. S Open men’s singles final.

With this historic win over Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, became the first person since 1969 to win the French Open, Wimbledon and U. S Open in the exact same yr.

Rafael Nadal is commonly believed to be the world’s greatest clay-court player ever – having earned an unrivalled 81-match clay court winning streak which was concluded in 2006, nevertheless his control by winning the French open (considered to be the most important clay-court tournament) for an amazing four years in a row (2005 – 2008) says it all. Rafa is one of the most popular players for tennis betting fans.

Neither the New York rain, which had seen the final postponed on Sunday and then disrupted for just about two hours on Monday, nor Djokovic could stop the Spaniard’s unyielding walk to the 1 title that still eluded him.

In the year 2006, Nadal showed the entire world that he is a dynamic player, when he played out his way to the final of the grass-court Wimbledon Tennis Tournament, where he dropped to Roger Federer – on the other hand in 2008 he conquered Federer for his first major win on a non-clay surface. Not one to rest on his laurels, 2009 saw Nadal win the Australian Open and reach the semi’s of the 2009 US Open. 2011 will probably be another year for Raphal Nadal’s tennis results.
